Three Things

Thing 1:

I bought a tea diffuser. It looks like a manatee. It is actually called 'mana-tea' which tickles me every time I think about it. Never really been into tea all that much before, but went to a tea place over Christmas and decided it might be worth looking into. Now, a mere 7 months later, here I am taking action and whatnot. So far... I think I might need brewing lessons.

Thing 2:

Prime day happened this week, and I discovered a previously unknown fact about myself. Lightning deals are my Achilles' heel. For those of you not afflicted with this ailment, a lightning deal happens for a limited amount of time, and it is very competitive to snag the thing you want before they are gone. Smart, smart Amazon. On the upside, there were good deals on several baby things I had plans to purchase in the coming months. And on the downside... there were good deals on things that the tiny human does NOT need but now owns.

Thing 3:

Tiny human and I had an instance of accidental matching earlier this week. You'd think I'd have done it on purpose... but then you would remember that I'm the woman who forgot her shoes when going into town yesterday... and then realize I legitimately had no idea until the smartest pointed it out.

Three Things

One. It is a summer goal of mine to learn more about the great red state of Oklahoma. Seeing as I've been here for nearly 10 years, it seems high time I explore what kind of pretty things it has to offer. We are planning on hiking and camping and dashing all over the place this summer, which I am pretty excited about. We went to our second state park over the weekend. The puppy hiked like 4 miles without being carried. It rained. It was magic.

Two. I'm on draft "E" of the latest manuscript. As soon as I (ahem, finally) finish this draft up, I will distribute to (ahem, force it upon) a couple beta readers for help working out the kinks. Yay and also eek.

Three. In case you were wondering why I've been so abysmal at keeping up with the blog (but you weren't, because you know me and my scatter brained ways) here's a little of what's been going down around here in the last couple months:

- 2 fantastic cousins graduating from high school
- 1 delightful cousin getting married
- I've set foot in 6 states in the
- 3 camp/bon fires with s'mores
- 1 camper purchased
- Visits to 1 lake and 1 state park

Three Things

1). I'm painting the living room. That particular project has been on my to do list since we bought this house, and somewhat randomly early this week I thought "What the heck. I may as well just tackle thing bad boy." I am using leftover paint from other rooms of the house, so three walls (including the 2 super tall ones) will be that weird white/gray color that I used in the hallway, and one will be the blueish gray color that the laundry room/guest room accent wall are. It might look terrible. But even if it does, at least the holes and gouges will be filled, so either way, that's probably a win. Or so I keep telling myself.

2). In the process of painting the living room, I am hoping to rearrange some of the wall things. I had a wall of family photos that I really love, but I have secret dreams of doing some large scale paintings and putting them along the back wall, and dispersing the family photos to one of the 19 other empty walls in the house. As you might recall... I have mixed success with painting. But I think its time for me to saddle up again.

3). I may have finished my super secret writing project. And by may have, I mean that I did. Which was actually quite surprising. Its a little low on the word count side, but I have some things to add during the editing process. No, I don't have any idea how that happened so quickly. Now, armed with highlighters, pens and sticky notes, I am going to embark on editing. Which I have virtually no idea how to do. I'm still trying to make a definitive plan there. Will keep you post-it (hehe).

Ps- Its storm season. Be safe out there!

Three things: Sneezing, Reading and Winterizing

1). Can I emphasize how strongly allergies have landed in our yard? And with them, the need for allergy medicine? And with that, the need to constantly wear a sandwich board that says "Please ignore my lack of emotional response. I assure you, I am quite happy to be in your presence, but due to my current intake of antihistamines my face is unable to show this fact at this time." On the up side, look how pretty:

2). One of my very amazing and supportive friends bought me a book about writing fantasy. This book, actually:

They gave it to me a week ago, and I blew through it and am now reading it a second time, while working on the edges of a new project. It is quite good. I'm finding it to be helpful in the way that it points out everything I did wrong in my first writing project so that I don't do it in my next project. Which I am getting very excited about.

3). I have de-winterized my closest, so my best guess is that Oklahoma will have a seemingly random and entirely freak cold front at some point this week. When that occurs, don't be alarmed, it is simply the response I always receive when I tuck my sweaters away and start painting my toenails for summer. After typing that... I actually went and checked. It might not be dipping below 32... but 36 isn't too far off:

Three Things

It's been awhile since I've done a "three things" post. I thought that I used to do these frequently, but when I searched for them I only found one. Which means that either the continuum in my brain is breaking down (likely) or that they were on the old blog, which I removed from the interwebs a year ago after reevaluating my stance on my extended family's privacy.

Thing 1:
I have developed "cornhole shoulder," which is the product of enjoying a Christmas gift that we received a little bit too much last weekend. After roughly 8 hours of playing... I can now get the beanbag into the hole once every 23 turns. Have I mentioned lately how I long for athletic skill and prowess?

Thing 2:
I finished painting the hallway yesterday. Next, I might consider hanging things on the walls. Which I am notoriously bad at, because it involves straight lines and poking holes in the wall. This is part of my not-so-secret plan to finish all of the lingering painting jobs before the year is out.

Thing 3:
I went to the store to return a swimsuit yesterday. And when I came home, I had somehow managed to purchase a sweatshirt with a buffalo on it, a plaid hat with earflaps, a pair of swimsuit bottoms, and a dress with a reindeer on it. I think I should maybe avoid the post-holiday sales from now on.

3 Things

You know its going to be a great day when I'm doing a 3 things post, because it means one or all of these things:

- I'm too scattered to manufacture an actual blog post
- I've overdosed on coffee again and can't confine myself to a chair for more than 5 minutes
- All of my creative juices have escaped my body leaving me a hollow shell and I'm going to spend my day trying to sweep them up.

Todays 3 things are:

1). Have I ever told you about the naming paradox? Its this super bizarre thing that has started happening in the shop this year. Occasionally, I will have a rash of orders from people by the same name. At first I thought it was just a fluke- names like "amanda" or "sarah" were sort of common when I was young, which means that there are probably quite a few of them running around out there, and some of them are sweet enough to order things from me. But then it started happening with more unusual names. And then the people with the same names started ordering the same things. In the same colors. And then my brain started to hurt, because keeping everyone straight is SUPER confusing. Anyway- I have 4 open orders with the same name, 3 of them for the same product, and in the last 2 months have served 5 of another name and 4 of different one. Hows that for awesomely confusing?

The BHO and I found these at Anthropologie last weekend. I want to make some.

2). I can't believe it is October already. I'm torn between delight and panic, in a state of being which will henceforth be known as "Delanic" because it sounds like manic, which is how I feel.

3). This month is the shop's 2 year anniversary. I'm pretty excited. I will probably post about it, unless the delanic state completely overtakes me, in which case I will probably babble some more about names and other weirdness.

And also, in case you were wondering what it looks like when the smartest does his homework:
